Three weeks from today we start principle photography. We start filming Other Versions of You.
Had a great meeting with our Line Producer and one of the producers yesterday. This is the point when we start finalizing locations and hire all the crew. And work on casting. Next week I’ll start meeting with several of the crew who will help visually shape the film (production design, wardrobe, and hair/make up).
Our cinematographer, Micah Simms, and I have had countless conversations about lenses and camera movement. This may sound like an obvious thing, but these choices feel super important to me right now. I’ve seen so many films that could have been beautiful and weren’t and I don’t want to miss any opportunities. We’re shooting a ton of interiors for this film, and I want to make sure we give ourselves every chance to do it right.
I’m trying to watch a film a day before production to make sure my brain is fully in film space. This morning I watched The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. I love the cinematography and editing of that film. I’ve watched it several times, and I often feel it doesn’t hit in all the right places in the “feels” department. But I really love the film more every time I see it. The opening and closing credits… Just wow.
I have so much to do. I’m going to try to do it all right now. Bye.
