Hello. For those who don’t know, making movies usually takes longer than you think it’s going to take.
As I write these words, we have completed 10 edits, and I just wrote a bunch of new scenes which we’ll be filming in less than 2 weeks. Back in December, we thought we may just need to grab a few things to flesh out a few holes in the story, and now here we are at the end of April preparing to film around 12 pages, including a new ending.
It’s been said a million times before: the film you write is not the film you shoot is not the film you edit. I have never had this drastic of a shift in a film from writing to edit as Other Versions of You. And if you go all the way back to the novel, the film is SUPER different now than the concept that came to life in 2011.
All that being said, we’re very excited where this film has landed. It’s tight, funny, beautiful, and contains a lot of magic. We have hit a ton of bumps along the way, though. And we still continue to smash into walls and troubles, but we are overcoming, and it really shows on screen.
Today we meet with our Line Producer, Dona Spangler, who is going to be our guide and sensei as we navigate the pick up shoot days.
